Which therapy?

We offer different forms of therapy. You will find a brief overview here under the buttons in the bar above and at the bottom right of this page.

In addition to relaxation therapy, we also offer psychoeducation for both patients and their families. Under the heading psycho-education you can read what this means and for whom it is all suitable.

In our center, in addition to psychoanalytic psychotherapy, we offer solution-oriented counseling and tutoring, group therapy and soon also psychotherapy with children and young people. Under this heading can not only read what this just means but also additional information about its ethics.
Registration: how do you come to us?

I work together with general practitioners and other emergency services. They can refer you or have given the advice to contact me. But you, too, can have taken the initiative for this without referring to another counselor.
Course of the therapy

After one or more introductory discussions, we decide whether or not to work with the future patient. In these first discussions we talk about your complaints, personality, living conditions, childhood experiences, your partner and other matters that are necessary for the good understanding of you and your complaints. On the basis of the image that emerges from the interviews, a plan is drawn up with you about how to deal with the problems and what changes are desirable and necessary. In this way I try to find out with you what you want to work on, whether I can offer you this help and which method of therapy fits best with that. This first conversation lasts three-quarters to one and a half hours. Then, in consultation with her or him, it will be agreed whether or not we will enter into and which form of therapy. We work together with general practitioners and other social workers such as social assistants, physiotherapists, dietitians, … I attach great importance to interdisciplinary consultations. This concerns not only the contacts within the practice, but also the consultation outside the home such as with district nursing, home care and with a social psychiatric nurse, doctors etc.
Deontology

In the therapies we offer, only scientifically justified methods are used. I am guided by the rules of the deontological code of psychologists developed by the Belgian Federation of Psychologists, the Flemish Association of Clinical Psychologists, the Flemish Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and the Belgian School for Psychoanalysis. Through this link you can already find something.

All our employees have committed themselves to adhere to the ethical code of psychologists.

Research and publication

From time to time I also give lectures about my research.
